04/20/2010 EPA Releases New Geospatial Data
ArcGIS ( Arc - GIS ) shapefiles are the industry standard and work with most all GIS programs including ESRI ArcView, ArcExplorer, ArcGIS, and Maptitude, Mapinfo, Manifold, Mapwindow, Mapguide and many others. Each set includes: roads, buildings, natural features, places, points of interest, railways, and waterways.

EPA Geospatial Data Access Project
To improve public health and the environment, the EPA collects information about facilities or sites subject to environmental regulation. The EPA Geospatial Data Access Project provides a downloadable files of these facilities or sites in the following formats; extensible markup language (XML) file, keyhole markup language (KML) file, ESRI Shapefile and ESRI Feature Class. Within the file is key facility information, along with associated environmental interests for use in mapping and reporting applications.
02/15/2010 - EPA has updated all of the geospatial
download files to contain the latest information
collected from Featured Environmental Interests as of February 05, 2010.
EPA Regional KML files are now available
from the EPA Region download page. State Comma Separated Value (CSV) files are now available for
downloading for ALL FRS facilities. Two file download types are supported.
One is a single zip file of key facility information including
geospatial data. Two is a combined zip file collection of individual
CSV files for FRS facilities containing individual facility name and address,
geospatial, facility interests, organizations, industrial classifications
(SIC and NAICS), alternative names, contacts, and mailing address files.
The format of the National KMZ file has changed. Due to the
large number of facilities contained in the download file, the text within
the pop-up bubble was removed from the file and is now automatically obtained
when the pop-up bubble is opened. Because of the large number of facilities
it may take between 5 to 10 minutes for Google Earth to process the file.
