EPA recently released 2005 Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) data. I am creating GIS shapefiles using this data. They should be available within the week. I'm also toying with a couple of ideas. The TRI is annual and comparisons are often made between one year and another so I thought it would make sense to map the increases and decreases and see what they look like. Also, TRI, being an annual report, tends to make you think or feel like we start from zero each year - we don't. I'd like to see what the cumulative totals are and look like since 1987, the earliest data available. I'll let you know what I come up with.
In the meantime, click here for the 2004 GIS map shapefiles. You can also check out the new 2005 data yourself at EPA and RTK Net.
